NEWS: Tristar Purchases New Fleet to Meet Strong Demand
Tristar Worldwide Chauffeur Services, one of the UK’s largest limousine companies, has decided to buy its own fleet of cars in Hong Kong, less than two years after setting up an office to serve its global and Asia business clients. “We’ve been active in this market for some time, but the demand has been such that now we’ve decided to invest in our own fleet,” Anthony Withers Green, Director of Global Business, Tristar Worldwide Chauffeur Services, said.
“With this new investment, we are the only limousine company in the world that has its own cars operating in three global financial hubs – London, New York and now Hong Kong,” Withers Green added. Having its own fl eet allows the company to offer a seamless service to international organisations, many of whom have senior executives who travel frequently between London, New York and Hong Kong. “With this expansion, we can provide a pick-up for a
businessman in the UK to the airport, and then be ready in Hong Kong to pick him up when he arrives. It’s all organised under one contract, which saves the client a lot of time and effort,” Withers Green explained.
As a company that specialises in financial service clients, Hong Kong was a natural move for the firm. “Our UK- and US-based clients are hosting more and more financial roadshows and events in Hong Kong, so it was natural for us to set up an office here and then expand with our own fleet to match our clients’
expectations,” Withers Green added. This ability to provide a seamless global service is a defi ning advantage over local operators, according to Tristar. “We have the capacity to manage an international network to the level that our kind of clients rely on,” Withers Green said.
Tristar’s MICE (Meetings, Incentive, Conference and Exhibition) clients currently account for 10 to 15 percent of its business, but it expects this segment to grow strongly in Asia. “Hong Kong has a strong reputation as a centre for MICE activities, so we look forward to serving this market segment,” Withers
Green said.
Adding to Its Global Network
With InvestHK’s continuous support, Tristar has successfully applied for limousine licenses, and its own Hong Kong fleet officially started in August 2011 with several brand new luxury cars, and a team of experienced staff, all employed locally. Withers Green said they were pleased to be able to employ such
accomplished staff locally, and that all new chauffeurs have at least five years’ experience in five-star hotels, possess a service-oriented personality, speak fluent English and Chinese and, of course, have excellent driving skills. “Hong Kong is a city where we’ve been able to find staff that meet our strict criteria of fivestar hotel service, reliability and comfort,” he added.
Withers Green also said that the expansion of the Hong Kong office positioned the company well to explore opportunities in major cities across Asia. “There is weakness in other global markets, so many clients are looking to Asia for new opportunities. Many of our clients are pushing business into Hong Kong and other Asian cities,” he said. “We look forward to tracking the progress of our Hong Kong operations. So far it’s been very positive, including signing up new global clients and contracts with major companies in Mainland China.”
