Our policy
Corporate social responsibility is the foundation of our business. We define it as being about what we do and how we do it. In an increasingly globalised world, travel is essential. We see it as our responsibility to ensure our passengers are able to do this in the safest and most reliable way possible. At the same time we recognise that we have a key role to play in making travel more environmentally friendly by continually improving the efficiency of our business. We do this by investing in our services, training and supporting our staff and delivering our service in a way that meets the needs of our stakeholders.
Environmental
Tristar are committed to proactively minimising our impact on the environment through 5 key promises:
- Regularly evaluating more environmentally efficient vehicles and alternative fuel options and, where appropriate, introducing them in to our business
- Improving the environmental efficiency of our operation by reducing the amount of dead mileage* we travel, and training our chauffeurs to drive as efficiently as possible
- Educating and empowering our people to reduce, re-use and recycle where possible and disposing of any waste in accordance with relevant legislation
- Enlisting the services of environmental experts to provide guidance on our initiatives
- To never assume we’ve done enough
Our progress
In the Spring of 2008, Tristar implemented a sustainability charter with the aim of reducing the company’s overall emissions. Initiatives are ongoing across the organisation but here are some of the headlines:
- A 7.5% reduction in CO2 emissions across the UK fleet since June 2009
- Since 2010 all current Volvo S80 and V70 on the UK fleet have been replaced by newer, more efficient D3 Auto models
- The Spring of 2010 also saw the addition of the Toyota Prius to the UK fleet
- As of May 2011 we have seen the CO2 emissions of our UK fleet drop by 7.43% since November 2010
